.Case studies .Case studies

During the first two years of the project the eLene2learn network collected more than 60 case studies, where teachers and students of Secondary and Higher Education provide practical tips and indications on their "first hand" learning experiences using ICT and digital media. This "collection" contains two different types of report:

  • The "How to guide" scenarios describe current practices, tools and methodologies used in the application of ICT to develop learning to learn competencies. The scenarios were collected through Focus Group with students and teachers; Download the printable version of the "How to guide"
  • The Case studies report, in detail the implementation of  practices, methodologies and tools used within real classroom settings. Recommendations and suggestions help you assess the benefit of replicating these practices, methodologies, etc. in your own context. These resources are highly valuable as they come from a direct evaluation by  students and teachers involved.  Some of these resources are (also) partly available in Italian, French, Greek, Finnish, Polish, Spanish and German. If the translations  are available, you can find the translations directly on the sub-pages of each case study. (The most recent Case Studies are listed first on the top); Download the printable version of the Implementation Report.

You can browse the case studies here by Benefits and Tags. The two different type of report can be easily filtered using corresponding tags.

For restoring your filters to the default (blank) settings, just click on the pink button "CLEAR".

Video of methods to learn

.Level (age of students)
SE (last year) HE (first year)

.Category of the tool

Videos "des méthodes pour apprendre"

.Language of the tool or resource

.Purpose of use
To provide methods improving learning and transition from SE to HE. Methods are practical and illustrated with examples; they help new students to take notes, to manage their time, to work in a collaborative way.

.Way of use (as individual or group activity; tasks; etc.)
The methods are presented through videos and teachers can display videos during the course. The students can watch them online according to their needs.

.Learn2Learn competencies
Ability to handle obstacles and change
Communication (reading and writing)

.Advantages of such a use for Transition. Innovative use
Transition from SE to HE is sometimes difficult. Students attend to lectures in much larger groups than in the secondary education. Studying is more difficult for them because teachers have to manage a lot of students .The students in HE have more liberty in their schedule, they have also to work more often in group. Using these videos can help students to overcome this change by improving their learning to learn skills. The subjects of videos are taking notes, working in group, managing time etc. The teachers can use some presented tools inside the videos in their own course to improve analysing, problem solving skills of their students. Recommendation: if the material is integrated in course tasks, students are more motivated to use them.

.Disadvantages of such a use
The videos can't be tracked and teachers didn't know if they have been watched by students. The videos have been made several years ago and don't concern new communication tools like social networks. Videos are also quite long. This can also be a disadvantage or cause student frustration. The teacher has for example to pick or point out the right spot from the video, so students' don´t have to watch the whole video.
